The Alabama Arts Alliance seeks to increase public awareness of and engagement in the arts through education and advocacy. An original member of the Artistic Literacy Consortium, the Alabama Arts Alliance has provided support in facilitating relationships and promoting the importance of arts education.

Alabama Art Education Association (AAEA) is a professional organization dedicated to the leadership, advocacy, professional development opportunities, and support for all visual arts education in Alabama. AAEA is a valuable partner of Amp Up Arts and provides essential input into decisions and goal making for increased access to visual arts opportunities.

The mission of Alabama Contemporary Arts Center is to support cultural production, provide space for courageous conversations that shape identity, and seed growth in the greater creative economy. They support living artists, and through their educational, public and curatorial programs advocate for human dignity and a diversity of perspectives. They strive to be a partner, resource and light in the Deep South. The Alabama Contemporary Arts Center works with Amp Up Arts Mobile to organize programming and promote increased arts education in the Mobile area.

The Alabama Dance Council is a statewide network of people who are inspired to make, teach, share, and experience all forms of dance as a powerful way to move toward a more just society. They believe that dance emboldens every body to connect, build community, and transform the experience of being human. The Alabama Dance Council provides valuable professional development and resources for dance teachers and artists that work within the Amp Up Arts network.

The Alabama Dance Educators Association provides awareness, assessment and professional development for dance educators to benefit K-12 dance education programming in both classically and nuanced techniques, ideas and creativity. The Alabama Dance Educators Association supports dance educators within the Amp Up Arts network and provides guidance on needed state level changes in dance education.

ALSDE Arts Education department provides grants and professional development opportunities for art teachers in Alabama, as well as various student opportunities statewide. They are founding members of the Artistic Literacy Consortium.

The role of the Office of School Improvement (OSI) is to provide differentiated support to Alabama’s K-12 public schools and districts in implementing high-leverage, evidence-based continuous improvement strategies and initiatives. The goal of OSI is to build capacity at the district and school levels to engage in continuous improvement practices that impact student achievement, close achievement gaps, promote student growth, and increase the number of graduates that are prepared for college and/or career. Amp Up Arts works closely with OSI to implement increased arts access in identified schools across Alabama, including schools participating in the Governor’s Turnaround Schools Initiative.

The AMEA is the largest community of professional music educators in the state. The AMEA works with local administrators and elected officials in Montgomery and beyond, to ensure access to the best possible school music programs and advance music education as a profession. They support quality music instruction in Alabama from early childhood through college, and they work to foster a better understanding of music’s important role in the development of the whole child. An important resource for many Amp Up Arts partners, AMEA excels in music education advocacy and guidance for state level support.

The mission of the Alabama Educational Theatre Association (Alabama Thespians) is to promote, foster and support excellence in educational theatre throughout the state of Alabama and to provide the students and teachers of our state with enriching and meaningful experiences in the performing arts. Alabama Thespians is an integral part of theatre education in Alabama, and provides advocacy and resources for teachers and teaching artists in the Amp Up Arts network.

The Alabama Writers’ Forum, a partnership program of the Alabama State Council on the Arts, works to cultivate our state’s literary culture through supporting writers at all stages. They are, above all, a community of writers united by our desire to advance the literary arts in Alabama. The Alabama Writers’ Forum provides educational programming and resources for Amp Up Arts partners.

Every Child Alabama is a coalition of organizations and individuals working to ensure every child across Alabama has access to a world-class education to reach their full potential. They share a unifying belief that when every child receives a transformative education, it strengthens communities, making them better places to live, work, and raise a family.

The Governor’s Office of Education and Workforce Transformation (GOEWT) was established to implement Governor Ivey’s Strong Start, Strong Finish education initiative and workforce development strategic plan by coordinating workforce development and education for the state of Alabama. Amp Up Arts partners with GOEWT to implement arts education, experiences, and strategic planning through the Governor’s Turnaround Schools Initiative.

The Dance Foundation embodies this belief with programs in our facility and beyond — studio classes for toddlers to teens to adults, extensive community partnerships, studio space for community artists, and professional development initiatives for dance artists. The Dance Foundation is a nonprofit, and has been a gathering place for learning with and through dance for more than 40 years. They also support our Birmingham collaborative site and were founding members of the Artistic Literacy Consortium.

The King’s Canvas is a “creative placemaking” space providing opportunity and access for underdeveloped and underexposed artists in Montgomery, AL. The King’s Canvas is essential in the work of Amp Up Arts, providing development to local teaching artists, workshop support, and networking with local arts and business communities.
